KK UTG

$1/$2 NL

Its my last hand of the night. I limp UTG with KK. MP limps as does the button. BB checks. 4 to the flop and the pot is unraised.

Pot is $8. The flop comes [Kh][6s][2h]. Its very unlikely that anyone has a king so I decided to check. If the flush hits the turn, I'll call a moderate bet and try to fill up, otherwise Im gone. I want to win more than just the limp money here. If I had 66 or 22 I would bet for sure.

It gets checked around.

Pot still $8. The turn is the [Td]. I bet $8 and both MP and the button call. I put MP on a Ten and the button on either a T or the flush draw. Both are below avg players.

Pot is $32. The river is the [6c]. I like it, although I would like another ten so much better.

Whats your plan for the river?

I would think checking is the best play because you won't get much if anything out of someone because they either have a busted draw, a T or a 6. They would call or raise with a 6 but fold the draw and likely fold the T to any real bet. However, you check to them, they can bluff with the draw, bet the T because they think its good or bet a 6 and then you can raise and possibly get a lot more money, especially if they have the 6.

I agree, check here and induce a bluff. You look like you might have been trying to steal after it checked around and someone may think the pots his if he makes a real bet on his busted draw etc. I don't think you're going to get called here by anything that won't bet if checked to so I you're not losing anything by checking. Let's hope a monkey called that turn bet with a six!

i would make a value-ish bet here that can get called, like 1/4-1/3 pot. i'm not expecting much action here, and i think if you check, it will most certainly check-down. i don't think a T bets, but he'll call a small bet. sure, you don't give the busted draw a chance to bluff at it, but i find a bluff somewhat unlikely against 2 players. and same way, if you make a small river bet, one of them may yet come over the top just b/c you look weak and the 6 is somewhat scary.

i think betting is also slightly better when your opponent has a naked 6 b/c it can go bet, raise, reraise, call; instead of check, bet, raise, call. although if he's bad, it may just go all-in either way.

If he has a 6, yes, betting is probably better, but do you really think he has one?
Why wouldnt a Ten bet? He cant think I have a King when I checked the flop with a flush draw out there (especially after I "chickened out" and checked the river)

I think a ten bets every time.

I did check..and he bet $16 (button folded). Now what do you do?

i don't think a T bets b/c there's no value in it. as far as he knows 3 Ks are out. button probably doesn't have one, but you might. you could've been going for a flop c/r, and checked the river b/c of the slight scare card. i think a T in mp or button's position is a clear check down on the river.

i would certainly say that a bad player is much more likely to bet it, though.

on the river, i think the choice is b/w like a min raise and some stupid big raise to like $60-70. i agree w/ briachek, i think if he's going to call a raise, he'll call a big one, so why not go for the gusto here. and he's a bad player, maybe he'll make a heroic call w/ the QT.

In these situations I like to raise it a bit more, maybe to $60. If he doesn't have much he's not going to call a raise, if he has TT or a 6 you will get more from him.

I check raised to $48 and he called with [8h][6h].

I like the way I played the hand, although if you look back at the flop and imagine the action, I most likely wouldve made more money by just betting every street.

In the long run though, I doubt that anyone is going to have a strong enough hand with that flop (and 3 kings gone) for them to take much heat.

I mightve been able to get him to call a $60 check raise. If I had any inkling that he had a 6, I wouldve bet the river and expected a raise and then its lights out.

that's what we get for trusting your read :D I didn't even consider a pair and flush draw. If he's calling another $32 on the river, I def think he'll call more. Does he really think he's putting a move on you with just 2 pair or a 6 with a lower kicker?

My read was off for sure. I couldve made more money for sure.....but notice that If I had raised preflop that I doubt I wouldve made anything.

This guy isnt calling a raise from UTG with 86s.

Yeah, unless you have complete calling stations in the play...an over raise is better...because only trip 6's or a hidden full house is gonna call.
