What to do with this AK

Postby briachek » Tue Jul 26, 2005 9:42 pm

$50 NL on Party. I have $50 and both villains barely have me covered. Villain 1 is pretty tight and aggressive but nothing that special. Villain 2 is loose (40%) and pretty passive.

Villain 1 limps in ep, 2 more limpers, V2 limps on button, sb completes and I check in bb with AKo.

Flop is [ 6h, Qc, Kh ]

I bet $2.50 and both villains call.

Turn is 4c

I bet $8 and they both call! I put V1 on the flush draw but I don't know about V2. He could have anything from flush draw, KQ, just a K or a Q or JT.

River is 3d

I check and it checks around. V2 takes it with KQ. do you slow down on the turn after 2 callers? V1 ended up having JT of hearts. Any comments?

I had a very bad session so I'm questioning everything.

the turn is such a blank you have to bet.

once again you played perfectly, in my opinion. it seems you've also gained my penchant for losing with the best hand. :)

Just curious... what do you think of a preflop raise here?

Six in the pot seems to make AKo tougher to play post flop (at least for me). Any connectors, one-gappers, or pairs could hit a draw 2p, a set, etc. on a rag board.

I hate raising with a hand like this out of position. If I miss the flop, I would likely have to put a decent sized bet out there while by checking, I can get away easy. Sure, I may win the pot preflop, but if not, I am in a hard situation. Also, this way if you hit your A or K, people may not think you have AK.
