What do you do?

Postby FatEagle » Tue Jul 05, 2005 12:53 pm

I'm playing at Harrah's in Vegas as the 1/2NL w/ max buy in of $120 and I'm down to $57. There is one horrible player and several other bad players. The horrible player raises to $10 UTG and UTG+1 calls. I'm next to act and have KQo. I would normally fold this but against these players I want to see a flop. But....the chip leader to my left pushes all-in and has everyone covered. By the time it gets back to me there are 3 people all-in and I'm last to act. If I call off my last $47 the pot I'm eligible for is $197. Do you make the call w/ a weak hand like KQo?

If you really really want to gamble. You probably need 2 pair or a straight to win against that many players. I'm lazy to calculate the odds, but getting those it's probably under 5%. Sounds like playing the slots.

When against horrible/drunk players, don't try to make oppurtunities out of marginal situations to break the player. Typically you'll only lose your money that way. Wait for situations where you clearly know you have the upper hand and THEN capitalize on the bad players.

Agreed..against players like this...you can have much better then horribly marginal situations like you just had.

I know that feeling, being down against players you know are worse than you... you just have to focus and play your game as well as you can. keep it simple, don't forget the basics. and try to avoid moves like this, tempting as they may be. The best player doesnt alway win the one game, but over time he does.
