This situation came up a couple of times for me over the weekend and I'm still not sure if I played them right.
1/2 NL live - 200 max buyin, I have 250.
Trying to avoid too much of a rocky image I limped with 8h6h from MP. Table has been somewhat passive, raises usually take the blinds, but a limp will get 3 or 4 callers. 3 of us see the flop (me, button, BB).
Flop comes J68 rainbow. Now what? I have hit a pretty good hand, but there is still danger lurking below the surface (ok, so it wasn't quite that dramatic). Someone could have hit with AJ or KJ, and T9 is a possibility as well.
There is $7 in the pot, I bet 5 and both fold. Now, granted, this could have been different if anyone had a J, but was I right to lead out here, or do I check hoping to checkraise it if someone bets out? I really didn't want to give any free cards, but with that type of board is it worth it?
Similar situation came up in the Aladdin tourney on Monday. I hit 2 pair with 7d8d, made a small bet and everyone folded. I would have liked to get some more out of the hand, but I think the problem with hitting these connectors for pairs is there is going to be a str8 draw out that you have to contend with. How much risk do y'all take with something like an iffy 2 pair on a semi coordinated board?
