JJ with lower cards?

Postby AlamdeaMike » Sun Jul 17, 2005 11:26 pm

JJ is hard to play. I mucked this up but was it a bad play?

Live $200 NLHE, 3,2,2.

UTG+1 ~~~ $200 - old woman (65-70+).
BTN ~~~ $300 - me

I was BTN with [Js] [Jc] with several limpers already in I made it $25 to go. I got one caller the UTG+1. She had just sat down and I had never played with her before.

Flop something like [2d] [4h] [7s] - 7 high for sure.

She checked and I made a pot size bet of $60 to try and end things. She said "might as well go all in" - nice tell, huh.

Well, we went all in and she showed [Qh] [Qd].

[As] on the turn and blank on the river and I was counting out $153 more to her.

Any comments on this hand? Thanks

I probably incorrectly make this call someone new to the table too... The reason being is that I don't know if they are a moron or not and I will kick myself all night when she flips over 88 or A7. The only thing that would have motivated a fold was her saying, "Might as well go in." That is a little too comfortable for me, I like my little old ladies to be nervous when they might as well go all in, the calm ones scare me.

Since she didn't raise preflop it should be more probable that she has 88-TT or A7 than QQ-AA. With a set she'd probably slowplay, maybe she'd push with 56 too but that sounds a bit aggressive for a little old lady. However, I have absolutely zero experience from playing with little old ladies.

yep, I have put her down as a tricky old player to watch out for. Thanks

I saw a young college kid muck AA to a all-in with Q hign on the Turn. The older guy Prop showed his KK.

Watch out for old folks.
