I'm dealt [Qd] in the BB. Everyfolds to the guy 2nd before the button. He has a $200 stack but i have no read on him. He raises to $6. (big raise for the table.) I call.

I have an overpair without a spade. I check to the opponent bets $15 in the $12.50 pot. I think a bit and just decide to fold. I'm out of position without a spade...and this guy is repping a KK or AA. I also figure he probably has a spade in his hand.

Do you guys go for a raise here or anything?? I think i'm getting more and more weak/tight as I go along lol.

I think that's probably the proper laydown. I don't see you winning enough times to make it profitable. Odds are he has either: a spade, AA or KK, or a set. Best you can hope for is AK with one spade.

If he had bet something like 8-10, I might reraise to 25 and try to take the pot right there. But with him over-betting the pot, I just don't think you can do anything out of position.

This is a good laydown Imo. I remember watchin Fox when they had their weird championship thing with rounds, I cant remeber the name off the top of my head. Gus Hanson raised preflop, flopped top pair with AQ but with a possible straight and flush draw on board. He bet out and Barry Greenstein goes all in behind him. Hanson thinks about it and says behind, way behind, close call or something to that affect. What he was saying was he was either 50/50 if his top pair was good vs a big draw or he has way behind vs a set, str8 or even two pair. You are in the same situation, your opponant is representing AA or KK, if has that you are in big trouble drawing to one or 2 outs, same situation vs AKsp same vs a set. Even if he as AK with one spade you are pretty much 50/50. The only thing you are good against is two overcards with no spade. There isnt that much money in the pot, you've only put $6 in the pot. Good fold.

On top of all of this, what do you stand to win by calling. If he has Ak with no spade or on a pure bluff this is the end of the money you are going to win. While if you call you could be set up to lose a big chunk of your money if another spade hits or not.

Nice analysis guys. I wasn't sure if I was getting too weak in spots like this. Thanks for the opinons...I feel much better about it.
