How loose was the player? This person limped in from somewhat early position.
I usually make a list of likely hands the other person likely has.
A-Xs is likely, but I don't have info on the player's tightness, I will assume average.
A-7, A-8, A-9, A-T, A-J, K-J, Q-J, K-Q, J-T, K-T, T-9
A-Q, A-K, K-K- Q-Q, J-J. A-K are all unlikely as they did not preflop raise from EP.
Also note: I see the call -> raise next round play
UTG+1 Calls 2$ into a 5.75$ pot. This is about 12 outs needed to justify this call without a raise. Maybe 13 outs.
9 for a flush draw, 6 for overcards. At this point, I would figure this person for suited paint cards.
My new list at the turn:
A-8s, A-Ts, A-Js, K-Js, Q-Js, K-Qs, J-Ts, K-Ts, T-9s, J-9s; I am going to rule out the hands with a T in them due to the lack of a raise on the flop. J-9s is unlikely because this is an open ended straight draw on top of the flush draw warranting a raise on flop as well.
New List:
A-8s, A-Js, K-Js, Q-Js, K-Qs, J-9s
Turn:
Calls 3 Dollars in a 10.75 dollar pot. This is about 10 outs needed to justify a call. I don't think my possible hand list needs modifying here.
River:
Then there is a RAISE!
WEEP WOOP WEEP, look at the previous round, what came down? A Queen, there is no flush threat now, and yet they still bet when a 5 comes down?!?! This is a Mike Caro tell, When a player does a sudden reversal bet on what seems like a rag, this is almost ALWAYS a good hand. Or they landed a set of 5's or 2 pair. Either way, this was not worth the risk of calling. I would have folded here.
A-8s (unlikely as this would be a flush threat bet )
A-Js (unlikely )
K-Js (unlikely )
Remaining list:
Q-Js*, K-Qs*, J-9s ( Quite likely )
You beat none of the likely hands this player might have.
