50NL

Why can't I seem to win? after 5k hands I'm at -.32bb/100. I do real good at 25nl with 13bb/100. I always seem to lose two big pots and that throws off my entire session. Could it just be an awful run of cards or variance catching up with me?

Are you posting $50NL hands...? Does losing a stack knock you into tilt...? I used to play 1/2NL pretty regular, but losing a couple stacks would send me into a tailspin... I moved down to the $100s and $50s, and don't let the hits bother me so much...

5K hands seems like a lot of hands to be showing a negative profit... Maybe try playing 1 or 2 $25 tables at the same time as one $50 game...

Well today I figured I should try 50NL again and I got stacked 3 times; AA and KK twice. I ran into sets all 3 times. It makes so much sense after the hand is played out, l try to take something from each beat, but so far the only think I'm taking is my lumps. Today I was firing on all cylinders until that happened. I mean I was stealing and raising then BOOM $150 gone. Is this just 50NL telling me, "No its not your time"

I know it sounds crappy, but it may just be... For whatever reason, every frickin time I pop my head back up to the $200NL game, I win a hundred or so...I don't see the players as that much better... I'm feeling confident and sailing... and then BAM!!!!! A nice metal toed boot right in the nuts...

I make a nice profit playing $100NL and $50NL, so I'm content with it for now... And, then every now and again I'll poke my head in and see if I can survive again...

Shamrock,

I am sorry to hear we are through the same here. I think it s just a bad run. Anyway it is a very good idea to pass this bad run in the smaller tables $25NL. I am almost sure you are ready for the $50 tables. Game quality is the same. After my first 5K hands there I was down at -2.something PTBB/100. That sucks! but I know I wasnt playing bad, so there was nothing I could do.

Did you read the "Are we lucky?" thread.... go there and read it, make the exercise and you´ll know if you a re throwing away money or in a nothing-you-can-do bad run.

I went to bodog and have played 4K hands and I m at 8.9PTBB/100 there. I always win there. I feel I could bve way more up but the bad beats are nonstop, not as much as UB but I am not winning a "FAIR" amount of pots.

Shamrock,

Don't really know enough about your game to comment. However, my game at party 50NL really started to take off when:

1) I started checking a lot more turns ( I used to fire on every street)
2) I expect to be "sucked" out. It happens, I charge, I move on.
3) I realized that most 50NL party guys want to wait to do their betting on the river. So they have a hand, you check the turn, now they bet 3/4-full pot on river you can fold easily. On the contrary, you've checked the turn and they bet 1/2 pot on the river, you can CR that a lot of times (more than min) and they will fold.
4) When you have the nuts and you check the turn and go all -in on the river, you will get an amazing amount of calls. The weak looking turn followed by the super-strong river sreams bluff to most $50NL guys. You'll get called with TPTK quite often.
