Wow. Put him on your friends list and play at his table every chance you get. You want him to chase like that!

Aside from that, why did you check the turn? What size bet would you not have called? I think if you bet 0.20 on the turn and he raises (he probably would), you have an easy fold there and save yourself the River call.

Post flop play is one of my big weak points right now I don't quite think like that yet. I think I try and get to sneaky and usually get my hand caught in the cookie jar. I need to be a tad more aggressive post flop but not like I was in my SnG post yesterday I think I may have been a little gun shy from that still.

Tepshen73, yep all the good advice we hear on this forum is absolutely wasted at the microscopic level we play at.

Whereas at higher levels, you would never think someone would call a raise with K[s]2[s] AND then calling a pot-sized bet with bottom pair. I've now played so much at this level that it's no surprise to me down here now.

Don't bother being tricky at this level. Just play good hands and bet hard. The hands that win you other's stacks are the middle pairs that hit a set on the flop. These guys down here don't register that you would play any hand that hasn't got a picture on it.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I spent a substantial amount of time on the monopoly money tables at PP. (My accounts were frozen...don't ask.) I learned a ton, believe it or not. I actually think I started out as a winning player right from the start of playing for real money because of the training I got playing against guys who had nothing to lose.

If you subscribe to the theory that the correct play is always the correct play, regardless of stakes, then it doesn't matter what level you are playing at. I've caught a lot of flack over time for advocating play money tables for those who really, really want to learn how to play winning poker. (What difference is there between play money, .10/.20, etc.?) Hell, I've played live down here at casinos and dog tracks at $1/$2 which were as loose as any play money table I've ever played at! I beat their butts, if you want to call a few dollars an hour beating their butts. I do it, I believe, because I played all that time at PP play money tables. Like NY, NY, if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.

This is a long-winded way of saying--and when is anything I write not a long-winded way of saying?--don't worry about the table stakes you're playing at. It's where you can learn a lot. The correct play is the correct play, regardless of the amount in the pot. And learning to deal with suckouts is a lot cheaper.

Sorry I can't say if yours was the correct play, as I totally suck at NL ring games.
