Bad talk : leave or answer ?

What is the worst thing you told to someone online ?
Do you reply to fellow who insult you ? How ? Why ?

I'm asking that because last night I received an email by Empire for bad talk after someone made a report on me.
I'm usually not keen on insulting people but this time it was enough. Just after a hand I won on what the guy considered as a bad beat ( it was not but anyway), he begins to says man you suck, blablabla but definitly the word suck was his favorite.
I usually don't answer to that kind of talk, but this time, surely because I'm nervous at the moment, I replied, after many suck suck suck.
And I must apologise in advance for what I said to him but ....
I said that yes I sucked, a lot, and that the next time I sucked it was his father and that her mother was making a video. I proposed him to buy that video and I offered him a reduction because he already gave me so much money ......
The whole table quit and we are HU, and insults are growing but definitly this story of his father put him on tilt more than I was : I won his stack, he rebuy, I won his stack again and he left.
Today I receive this email and really I don't feel ok for what I said to him but in the meantime, he just begin. I know this is not a good reason, I maybe should have quit this game, but...
I don't know what to think.

It was hilarious when you offered him a reduced rate since he gave you so much money already. I said something like that once, but it was about me teaching him how to play, not a porn video with his father

I wouldn't worry. I just wouldn't bring up people's family members again as many people get very touchy with that. I thought it was really funny as I don't take anything said over chat too seriously.

To be honest I usually find being insulted quite amusing, the only things I heard that I find distasteful are the 'I hope you die of cancer' and 'I hope you get raped' (a lot of players think Molina is specifically a female name).

I think that if someone is saying these things after losing a pot to me then their either very stupid and think these comments will cause psychological damage or they're the type of person who'll let their emotions do the talking while at the table. Either way, I appreciate them letting me know their a retard, +EV for me.

In cash games I rarely make any comments, though in sit n goes I sometimes play a whole game making comments to try and throw other players out of their normal thinking. Either way, I don't make it hostile until they are to me first.
