BTP hotel question...

Postby MVPSPORTS » Sun Nov 27, 2005 12:50 pm

Whaddup guys...

I've been to Vegas about 6 times, but used to have a hookup at the Mirage to get a free room, which I unfortunately don't have anymore... So, since I'm a cheap bastard, I'm tryin my best to slum it around, and actually have some money for "other activities" (ie... well... you guys know what...)...

So, I'm checkin out hotels for about 5 days, and most of the biggies are bumpin around $150+ a day... Which is a bit outta my price range... Or at least, my wanted pricerange...

I've been lookin around, and found a great deal at the Stratosphere... It's about $50 a night average for the 5 days I'm gonna be there... I know it's a little north of the Strip, but I don't remember it being ridiculously far away, and I'm gonna have a car anyway... So, I don't see that as being such a big deal...

I don't really know anything about the Stratosphere... I went inside to do the whole needle thing, but I don't really remember what the inside looked like... Now, I'm not a friggin aristocrat, and don't need and/or expect a Bellagio free minibar, hookers in the downstairs lobby, directv kinda service... I just really need a clean room that I can sleep at without worryin about waking up w/ a cockroach in my mouth...

Any help would be appreciated...

when are you going? those prices sound like new year's. I don't think you can find much for less than that at that time.

I normally just go with hotels.com or vegas.com... their deals are usually decent

I looked in both... I'm plannin on going from 1/24-1/29... This includes Tues.-Thurs., which drastically reduces the prices of the rooms...

Just for a couple comparisons...

MGM - $218 a night
Aladdin - $229 a night
Luxor - $175 a night
Tropicana - $93 a night
Mirage - $227 a night
friggin Excalibur - $118 a night
Orleans - $101 a night...

The wife and I stay at the Sahara when we go to Vegas.
We had a 22nd floor suite with a balcony last time, $99 / night (weekdays)

Their regular rooms were about $59 during the week.
Ask for the highest room you can get, and you will likely be placed in the towers.

One word of caution: The windows open all the way. I hope you are not entertaining thoughts of suicide.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Do not stay at the Strat - any money you "save" will be given back in the form of cab fare and the general misery you feel from staying at one of the shittiest hotels on the strip.

I once stayed at the Frontier (or new Frontier) - there is nothing new about it. It is sort of at the end of strip
cheap rooms and mine was clean but my buddies room (which was supposed to be non-smoking) reeked of cigerette smoke

I have stayed at the Imperial palace my last two trips, decent, and cheap, and close to eveything. I would second that

the Sahara isn't bad either. Cheap rooms, but last i was there a few years ago the poker room sucked, although I took 4th and 1st in their weekly NL tournaments that trip
