Basically the traditional English boarding school system involves senior boys being in charge of the junior ones with the one adult notionally running the 'house' of 100+ boys nowhere to be seen. aka institutionalised bullying.
'warm the toilet seat for me boy' etc...
Not fun
And to make it worse, by the time I got to the 6th they had sodding well abolished it so I had to make my own toast (and warm my own toilet seat).
