Getting cash in Europe

Postby iceman5 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 1:12 pm

My wife is taking her mother to Italy. Ive spent quite a bit of time over there but its been a while.

Whats the best scenario for carrying / having cash?

She will need a few $1000.

Should she take it all in cash and exchange it at a bank? Are exchange rates fair?
Should she take a small amount and use ATMs? How are ATM fee over seas?
Prepaid Visa debit card and small amount of cash?

Ohter options?

Just use ATM's to get Euros out...either via a prepaid debit card or your usual bank card if its compatible..
