I am a hypocrite (politics)

Postby k3nt » Sun Sep 11, 2005 8:06 am

I have taken two different positions, at different times on this site, about issues of politics:

(1) Let's not talk about politics, because that only gets people angry with each other, which is bad, because this site needs to be a friendly place;

(2) I am going to rant about politics, in precisely the sort of way to get people angry if they happen to disagree with me.

I am a hypocrite.

I will TRY to stick with position (1) in the future. I really will.

My apologies to everybody.

K3nt, I don't think we're in great danger of implosing here on BTP due to political differences. First of all, we're a fairly well-adjusted group mainly made up of grownups. Two, we're not here for the discussions, but for the poker, on which we all agree...winning is everything. :) And third, it's not like any of us hasn't heard all this before, often and a lot. There are people I vehemently disagree with I still like. I like more people who agree with me, but that's beside the point.

Perhaps there are a few here who do not like me because of my politics. That's a better reason than they usually have, which is I'm an asshole. At least they give me the liberty of saying what I think, and give me some respect, which is more than most people do in the general population.

Frankly, anyone who is so adamant in their point of view that they would do great harm to the BTP forum on purpose, isn't someone we'd want, anyway. They would have no ability to learn, therefore there would be no reason for them to be here, because our stated goal as a group is to improve our poker skills. :wink:

Or, see sig below...
