Ferrets are a great way to control rodents. Usually just the presence of a ferret will keep them completely outta your home. They also make fantastic pets. They have the personality of a kitten that never grows up.

My housemates is probably getting a cat, though I hope she doesn't, I've got a couple of friends that are allergic to them and don't want to effectively banish them from our house just because of some mice and their ensuing cats.

I've heard before that to the sensitive mouse nose that a ferret reeks of predator and death, more than any other animal, I'm just not very keen on getting any type of animal.
