Irvin is such a joke. No wait, that wasn't my crack pipe, it was my friend's, er uh, I mean my brother's, er uh, I mean a friend that's like a brother. I was just throwing it away for him, and, ummm, just disregard those prior FELONY drug convictions I have. What you want me to take a drug test so I can prove I'm not lying and keep my million dollar TV job, er, uh, I'm innocent but I need to talk to my lawyer.

Irvin, give me a break with your BS stories. Don't piss down my back and tell me its raining.

Those who bring shame to my beloved Cowboys deserve ass-whippins.

Would T.O. be one of the founding members of this wing?

I was going to agree with you, TR, until you besmirched the greatest defensive player in the history of the game.

It's the Football Hall of Fame. If you were (fill in whatever the hell it is that the HOF says you need to be to get in) on the field, then you should get in. Unless you were caught gambling on football or fixing games or something that had to do with the GAME itself, I don't really care all that much. Unless you're an a-hole I guess. Nah, even that doesn't matter. Unless you're Barry Bonds, then you don't deserve to get in without blowing Hank Aaron first. In Macy's window. On the Friday after Thanksgiving.

When I took my kids to Canton and was showing them around the exhibits, I didn't say, "Look, there's a statue of Lawrence Taylor, he had a drug problem." I said, "There's the greatest defensive player in the history of the game, bar none, and quite possibly the second best athlete to ever play the game (behind Bo Jackson)."

Did the guy have issues? Sure, but on the field is what matters, and based on his on the field performance, Irvin should get in.

Trodgers, what about your boy Nate Newton, what do you do after getting busted with 100+ lbs on weed, ummm why not go out and do it again within a month. Ummmm I have a drug problem, it was for personal use, I take it for pain for my aching knee's.

Irvin is a POS always has been always will be. I am a big Niners fan so I have always hated the Cowboys, even with that I stil have a lot of respect for some of the Cowboys greats of that time. E. Smith, T. Aikmen, D. Woodson, were all great players who carried themselves with class. Irvin is a selfish, arrogent piece of crap.

I hate, hate, hate Irvin

Piece of trash

of course I am in MN and a Vikings fan, so yeah I got no ground to stand on....the love boat...

anyway

Hall of Fame? yeah...maybe but he wasn't that great. He was the master of the offensive pass interference. He was so strong he would basically tangle up a defenders hands and body and push him away as the ball got close

however they let that slide so it's not Irivin who wrote the rules

if morality doesn't count then yeah Hall of fame. However all the dudes in the hall have skeletons

but this brings up a good question. Under those standers Pete Rrose is a hall of famer in baseball right? Also there was a blub in the daily quickie on ESPN.Com about Albert Belle vs. Kirby Puckett. Puckett got in by coming up big in big games and being a great guy (at least until after he was elected and we found out he cheeted on his wife, and beat women)

so does Belle deserve to be in?

great topic of discussion by the way

Im not agreeing that character doesnt count. What he does AFTER he retires would have less weight for me (but still some weight), but what he does off the field while hes playing makes a huge difference to me.

I believe the voters are not supossed to weigh off the field things, but I know they do. Its human nature.

Personally, I think the HOF should be about not only stats but also what a person did for the game. I mean, what about a guy who stats maybe arent quite as good as someone elses, but he invented the forward pass. Or something like that?

For me there are other factors than pure stats.

Not too mention the fact that Irvin pushed off on every damned play throughout his career.
