Huckabee says:

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that's what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family."

He seems to be imploding, but the context of his speech as I understand it was specifically around protection of marriage and probably the unborn. Not about constitutionally establishing a religion.

I don't understand how someone in his position cannot see how a speech like that is going to come across in sound bites. He should have said something more along the lines of "changing the constitution to reflect our values rather than change our values to reflect the popular culture".

The guy is not ready for prime time, maybe he will get a little smarter by 2012.

What's really tilting me right now is that BTP has an add from amazon.com on the bottom of my page advertising 3 Mike Huckabee books.

He seriously wants to have a Constitution in "God's standards"???? Who the hell is qualified to make that judgement? Him? So essentially he wants to make the US a religious state similar to the Muslim countries that are governed by Sharia law. LOL.

If a politician in Canada said that crap he would not only have disgraced his whole party , but he would have signed his political death warrant.

F Mike Huckabee. Luckily the Dems should be able to pull out a victory for the next prez.

Yeah, Canada wouldn't stand for it...that's kinda funny that the US doesn't just pounce all over him and basically end his career. But, of course, he's not the first to say something so stupid...it's so normal.
