Need Help With a Ruling

Postby bernie » Fri Nov 11, 2005 8:24 pm

I was playing Dealer's Choice - each player had 3 cards with 5 community cards. 3's were wild. I had 10, 5, 3 diamond, opponent had J, 4, 2 diamond. Community cards had A, K diamond. Since 3's were wild, I say I had highest flush, since I could make the 3 a Queen of diamonds. My opponent said that since my 3 was a diamond that he had high diamond in hand, the J, and that he wins. What is the ruling with wild cards in this situation?? Can I find this in writing somewhere??

I think when you make up your own games like this , that youre always goin gto have disagreements because there are no set rules. You will always have people making up rules as you go.

Personally, as an unbiased party, I would say that your wild card is whatever you want it to be, hence, it is the [Qd] and you win.

Normally when you play wild cards you can use them as any rank, rather than a specific suit. So I'd say your opponent wins.

But you really need to make this clear beforehand. Dodgy rules are always going to cause disagreements!

Since we're talking about this:

3's wild.
1) You have [Ad] [Td] [9d] [8d] [7d]. Opponent has [3s] [Qd] [6d] [4d] [2d].
2) You have [Ad] [Td] [9d] [8d] [4d]. Opponent has [3s] [Td] [9d] [8d] [4d].

Who has the higher flush in each case?
Let's say iceman is right and the wildcard can become any rank any suit.

Opp wins in hand #1, split pot on hand #2.
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

So what we're saying is that only when the flush is exactly tied does the natural flush beat the unnatural flush?

Kuso, the board could have those cards, no need for 2 decks.
