T-rod:

I would say that you actually confirmed my statement that religion and science is antithema to eachother with your heart and mind comparison. You're saying that religion is based on irationality (emotions, faith) and science is based on rationality.

Natural science doesn't concern itself with "why" because there is no evidence that points towards there being a "why". It also doesn't concern itself much with invisible unicorns, since nothing points towards there being any. The idea of a reason is teleological. People used to believe that the hare became white in winter because it would help it survive. The "reason" is of course that those who didn't become white died more, so maily hares that changed colors survided. There was no "reason" or thought behind it, it's just natural selection/evolution. Do you "believe" in evolution by the way?

In stead of "science", we can use the word "secularism". I think we can both agree that falls into the anti-deism category somewhat more easily even to religious people.

Two more direct questions:

1. Why do you believe what the Bible says? Because it's Gods words according to... the Bible? So you believe the book is true because it says it's true (and because you have a gut feeling), even though there's a lot of very serious stuff in it that is just plainly false* and some moral ideas that are truly reprehensible**.

2. Are all other religions false? Several, like Hindu and Zoroastrism existed well before Christianity. In fact, Christianity has only been around for 2000 out of Homo Sapiens ~250.000 years of existence, which is less than 1% of the time. Why did God wait for over 200.000 years before revealing himself?

*
My favorite: The world is flat and has four corners and God set the earth on a foundation; therefore, it does not move.

** It allows for slavery, the sale of children, mutilaton and death for things like planting crops the wrong way and introduces "thoughtcrime", which makes it illegal to even think some things.

Just one stupid comment.

What I here most often is "there must be a god. How could this all come about. How could the earth just be here without someone creating it. I always respond with, If you must believe something must be created, that it just can't simply exist for no reason then

Who created the creator?

Isn't he just there existing out of thin air. Chicken and the egg i know.
