I just did a monster hike between my computer and my bathroom. I'll take a picture if you really want to see it.

this used to be bread and butter. I bagged a few 10k+ peaks in the west about a decade or so ago, most of the Adirondacks in new york, used to guide on the New River in WV, worked at an outfitter shop here in Cleveland, guided trips out of there, etc etc.

Now, 10 years and 50 (+) pounds later, a big hike for me is trying to get across the Cleveland clinic (hey, it is/was the third largest in the world).

I have dozens of placed photos for gear, but none for BTP. I am doing a family camping trip in august, maybe I'll do nothing there either.

Love how you included the Glock. In the east here, we only need that for other people. Usually you can just make loud noises to keep the black bears away.

You should keep a red bandanna and a bell on your pack when you hike, it keeps the bears away.

You know how you can tell black bear shit from grizzly shit? Grizzly shit has red bandannas and bells in it.

Compass but no topo?? at least you brought the compass...... And you never leave home without rain gear. Trust me.

I am going to go bike a few miles this morning and get some phsical exercise every day (beyond the hike to the bathroom obv.) to try to get ready for this.

Dood, that chick in the 2nd photo hiked that barefoot, she's pretty hardcore  .

Unfortunately I don't really live near any real hardcore mountains to hike......Well that and I'm not much of a hiker to begin with.

Good luck to the contestants though, I'll keep ya in mind for the trip idea though Jus. Alaska was originally our first honeymoon choice, but I still want to go there. Hopefully in the future.

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Just ran up a mountain in Breckenridge, CO. Hiking is for sissies LOL :D. They had the inaugural 10K Firecracker Race. Signed up with my girlfriends family, we usually run the Bolder Boulder but missed registration.

So we were expecting quite the turnout (the boulder race drew about 50K people this year) The race had 250 entrants! (and they all looked like professional runners)

Turns out the race was actually a TRAIL running series!! So not only do I have to run at 10,000 ft. of elevation but I had to run up a single file mountain hiking/biking trail. Went up at quite a pitch for about 4 miles and then back down for the rest. Twisted my ankle something good on the way back down the mountain, lucky not to fall at all. Some of the girls family took some decent diggers though. One guy ran into a tree as I was passing him, you shout out "on your left" and people move over to let you pass. He just jumped into a tree, it was pretty funny.

I will dig up some pics to show you the race and ship me the mathematics of poker by chen.

Here is what the mountain looks like

Oh yeah and my time was 55 min. so not too bad for having to run up and down a mountain.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.
