anyhow, thanks everyone who came to support my FT last night.
2nd place for 19k.
I've had the goal of winning the 162 for well over a year now, and last night when i got HU with joe i was sure i'd beat the snot out of him.
He and I had been at the same table for well over three hours, and I had learned that he was an absolute station. routinely calling people down with mid pairs and ace high. I went in with the strategy of just value betting anything halfway decent, only to discover I couldn't flop pairs. Other than my flopped straight against his mid pair, I had trouble finding spots in which I ever had the best hand.
The two big hands...
with stacks of my 1m to his 930k i opened with A8s to 120k otb. he called (standard).
the flop came

[Js][8c]. he check called a 120k bet. after
![The Six of Hearts [6h]](https://pofex.com/images/smilies/6h.gif)
fell on the turn, he check called a 300k bet, leaving him with 400k.
Sadly, the river came the

and he jammed into me.
that only slightly tilted me. the end came when i had QT in the BB. He had been limping big aces constantly against me - i can't tell you how many of the hands that went to a showdown he had limped something like AK/AQ otb, so I was becoming hesitant of raising his limp, especially OOP.
Anyhow, he limped with J8c. the flop came down AQT, i bet pot on the flop, and called two smallish bets on the turn and river when a K turned and a rag rivered.
In the end I guess I didn't need to put in my stack with A7, but I didn't really want to leave myself with 12 BB's. I thought there was a solid chance I had the best hand, and if not... oh well.
Once again, thanks to all of you who came by to watch. I still say eventually i'm gonna win this tourney.
