This is why i hate party poker

Postby Rhound50 » Fri Jan 21, 2005 1:32 am

This is the BS which is why I hate party poker, i have played 97 hands and won 3, I finally get A's and this BS happens. I habe now gotten AA 17 times on party poker and I am down $127 I have gotten to showdown with them 11 times and have won 4, all of which I was all in on the flop or turn. How am I supposed to win on this site if I cant win with A's. And its not like I'm trying to slow play and letting people draw, I have raised 5x BB or more every time. I have now been beaten by 55, 99, AQ, Q7, AK, J10 suited and 84 suited. This is so frustrating, I have won at every other site I have played.

That sucks to high heaven. I was playing at absolute yesterday, got AA with about $300 in front of me (200 buyin table) and raised it up to 4 bucks preflop, opponent made it 8 to go. He only had about $40 left so I decide to just put him in, he says "oh what the hell" and calls... with 88  . Of course the 8 hits the flop  .

My advice Rhound is to do what I've done. Party/Empire have great cashiers and get the money in and out very rapidly. Just clear your account TOTALLY so even if the games look good you're not tempted to jump back in, and wait until there's one of the (very generous) deposit bonuses available there. From now on, I'm only going to be playing at these damn sites when they're giving me something for nothing, and to be honest I'm staying away from NL here for the time being because exactly the problem you detailed above has me tearing my hair out!

Its a bit of a comedown for me, given that I have played up to $400 buyins at PLO and $200 at holdem, to be playing $25 NL or PLO8 at party/empire, but I find it's a quick and effective way to clear the bonus and the suckouts dont have me wanting to punch a hole in the wall quite as much as they did in the days when I used to play the biggest games they had on offer. I'm thinking I'll play 2/4 or 3/6 O8 to clear this latest Party bonus offer, perhaps on the shorthanded tables, because I don't really ever lose very much at limit O8 so there's very little downside for me, even though I have more profitable games. I'll stick with the bigger games at Stars, where I'm doing great, and maybe now GCP.

Hope this helps anyway, from another who's had a multitude of problems winning at this site. It's kind of hard to adjust your game when it seems like they're destined to hit that 5 outer every time  lol...

Thats not such a big deal Dodgyken. He called all in with a short stack with JJ. He'll beat you 1 time out of 5.

The biggest reason for me to leave Party poker is the stacks are too short. The bigger the stack, the bigger the mistakes people will make and the more they will pay when they make them.

Damn - it missed somethig out for some reason - it should read like this:

I raise to $3, short-stack goes all in for $5.2, UTG+2 limp re-raises $25 all-in, I call.

He actually beat me out of a $55 pot with that J. I don't know why the HH didn't load properly. That's why I posted it! As it is - it's rubbish!

I've amended the original now.

Never saw it from that point of view. It makes sense. As a wise man once said, "The only problem with that is I didn't think of it first."

Hmm, I'm waiting for my BR to get to $400 so I can make that first deposit at PP. Should I do it?

That does make me feel better! I wasn't too annoyed by this (yeah right!), I just thought it was appropriate to post in this thread! JJ has haunted me a little tonight; when I've had it AND when I've faced it!

Excursion, I really don't feel like I misplayed any of these hands to bad. I have been ahead in almost every hand and the exceptions were hands that we just bad circumstances. Here is a quick recap. of a couple of the hands that beat my AA.

Hand 1- I have AA loose player raises $4, I make it $20 loose player and one other player call. Flop is Q7X 2two diamonds, both players check. I push all in, player one calls with Q/7 suited and wins.

Hand 2- I raise preflop to $6 get one caller flop is 884, looks good to me the other player is a rock so I doubt he has a , I bet $15 he raises to $40, I call all in turn is a K, river is irrellavent. He has KK. I lose

Hand 3- One unit raise UTG 4 people call. I raise to $10 get two callers. Flop is 986 rainbow, it checks to me I bet $20, player one calls player 2 goes all in for $33. I call, so does player 1. I have $6 left which I put in after the turn which is a 5c. 7c hits on the river making a board str8 and the third flush card. Player 1had flopped the st8 with 7/5 player 2 had 8/4clubs and made a runner flush

Hand 4. I raise to $6 one caller. Flop is J72 two hearts. I bet $10, villian calls. Turn is a Kc. I push $25 villian calls all in for $19. river is the 4h. Villian is playing J/10 of hearts.
