Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

I decided that if Memphis was gonna be a bunch of choke artists, I'd have to win the money myself, the old fashioned way. So I fired up a 5/10 session.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

Well after yesterday's good session I was feeling pretty good about my game and played some more 5/10 today.

Oops.

Lost $5100 pretty quickly.

Ran pretty shitty. Got it in with JJ vs. 33 on an AJ3 flop and he runner runnered the 3-high flush. Got it in with AK vs. AQ pre flop and lost that.

I also played a little heads up when tables were breaking.

Cool.

So I quit and ate dinner and watched some TV but in very uncharecteristic Jaime fashion, I kinda wanted to play again. This time I decided to play HU so I went to FTP with my trusty $3100 FTP bankroll and sat with some guy who I was guessing wasn't one of the good HU 5/10 regulars.

I quickly doubled him up when I re-raised him with tens and he called with JTo. Flop came J93 all clubs (I have the T of clubs) and we got it in on the blank turn. Shortly thereafter he turned a flush and I made a really bad call down that cost me a good amount of money. Then I started to get a pretty good grasp of his tendencies and the deck stopped clobbering him in the face. I got 3 streets of value with top pair, turned 2nd pair, turned 3rd pair to make a decent amount back and he immediately quit me.

Then I sat with someone else and re-raised him relentless for about 15 hands until I picked up KK and we got it all in. Oh herro der aces. Lost that and was down to my last stack and I unfortunately sorta tilted that one away.

Total for the day: -$8273.45

So much for all that money I made last night.
