He got home that night and it took him all of two minutes to find that a fan had been knocked loose (possibly from moving it?) and my computer shutting down was its way of preventing damage. The shitty thing was that he told me over the phone to check to see if a fan had come loose, but I didn’t see anything. Basically I wasted two days driving back and forth when I could have fixed it myself. Oh well, I got my computer back last night and I’m back.
Last Thursday I tried playing a little bit of poker on my laptop, but it didn’t go well. I dropped a couple buy-ins in a session where nothing was going my way. I was losing so much on CB’s that I started doubting CB’s even worked. Also, I flopped bottom two, got all in against a full stack and was sucked out by a gutshot straight draw. Naturally I think my laptop is cursed. It’s retired from poker now and it will be used solely for data mining and web browsing.
Last week I bought a subscription to Cardrunner and have been watching a ton of their videos. At first I was a little disappointed to see so many of the videos were 6max. Then I started thinking that maybe I should try 6max. I’ve been playing for years now and it seems like everyone is going that way.
After watching several 6 max videos I finally gave it a shot today. I don’t know how much I’ll like it, because it doesn’t seem like raises or CB’s get any respect. Plus its going to be hard for me to get my vp$ip up to where it needs to be. I’ve been in the 14% for so long at FR and it was a struggle keeping it above 20% at 6max.
Anyone know what optimal numbers are at 6max? Today I was 22/13 with a 6.9 aggression factor. I think I am being way too aggressive right now and that’s part of the reason my continuation bets aren’t working too well. I’m sure some of this will change because I only played 662 hands today.
Also, is this normal at 6max? Or am I just playing marginal hands way too strong?
