I have absolutley no desire to play poker today. I didn't play yesterday either, except for one sng that I took sixth in, and still finished up 170 on the day. Thanks rakeback. I think it's because of that hand the other night where I took the $140 swing. I have been playing well lately, but I have no motivation. What to do?

It's Friday, so I think I will go to a bar with my girlfriend, my brother and his girlfriend. Maybe I will come home and be one of the drunks donating money to the smart players. Maybe not though, as long as top pair any kicker holds up, maybe even second pair. Top pair is gold.

When I first started playing I did believe TPTK was a monster. Thanks, "Ken Warren teaches hold'em", you smart, smart guy. It was him that helped me make a ton of money the first night I ever played poker only to lose it all the very next night. That moron is lucky he wrote a book that seems to sell, because if his book is a reflection of his style of play he isn't making money at the poker table. I think he wrote it so his oppenents would think he was the dumbest person alive. That way, when he was in a hand, they would play complete trash against him hoping to hit two pair or something while he was capping betting with TPTK on all betting rounds. If so, Ken Warren is a genius and I really mean it when I say, what a smart, smart guy.

Time to do something. I think I will read a book. And everyone pay attention to this next line, The series, "A Song of Ice and Fire," by Goerge R.R. Martin, is the best fantsy saga ever. Read it and you will agree.

I entered a $20 sit n go last night and things started out great. I tripled up on the very first hand of the game with 77. I hit a set on an all diamond flop, the turn was an ace and I pushed all in. Two players called with top pair, and I was set to coast in the money.

Things didn't work out as I thought because of some bizzare calls by opponents. With four people left I had a pretty commanding chip lead. I hit top pair on a flop and put an opponent all in. He called on bottom pair, but turned and rivered a flush. Then a few hands later I had top pair again and a guy called me on a flush draw and poof.....I'm out of the game and walked to my bedroom empty handed. That's not entirely true as I sat there for the next five minutes bashing the little homos that sucked out on me. It's pretty out of character for me to do this, but I was drunk enough that I though it would be good entertainment value(EV+++).

It was still a winning day, but it should have been more. Also, I played in a $10+1 sit'n'go and took first, and sat down at a $50nl table with ten bucks and left with $40.

Right now I am playing in a $5+1 rebuy and add on at Party. It's great because thousands enter and after all the rebuys and add ons the prize pool gets up to 20k or more(at lest on the weekends it gets that high). Right now I'm sitting 3k below average with 600 left. I don't have high expectations for this game.

I ended up going out around 50 from the money. It had to be the most card dead tournament I have ever played in. In 160 hands my highest pp was nines, I never I had AK and I had AQs once. I finally made my move when utg miniraised and I pushed all in with 44 on the button. He called and had AK hit his A on the turn and I was gonr.

I just signed up for Party Pokers 20+2 $34,000 guarantee. Oh how I would love to place first in this one, but with 1700 plus entrants that will be tough. This could be a nice hard earned bonus to my bankroll and I would be able to move up too 100nl right away.

I've read the "song of Ice and Fire" series. Sweet! You know..he just finished the 4th book. It'll probably be out in a month or two.

That is my favorite fantasy series. He's defiently a perv though. heh. Great books though.

Hey Kenny, thats awsome. Yea, I do know the next book is coming out soon. It's coming out early in November, but It was so big that Martin had to make it into two books. So hopefully the fifth one will come out shorlty after. It is the best fantasy saga ever and I can't wait for the next book. That will be a day of no poker, because I will probably read that entire book.

Anyway, I busted out of the 20+2 about 90 from the money. It was another one of those card dead games. In nearly two hundred hands I only saw JJ once, highest pocket pair of the game, and it ws the hand that knocked me out. KQ was good to me though, it ran into 99 and KJ and doubled me up twice.

I haven't really been putting the hours in this month. Its a total of 15 and I think five of them were drunk. I want to put in 40+ hours this week and move PTBB/100 over 10, right now they are at 9.1. If I can do this I sould make around 800 this week, and by the end of the month I might be able to move up and have over 40 buy ins for the next level.

But we all know how much easier it is said than done. So I wish myself luck.

Hey Stealth/Kenny,

I saw that you've read Martin. Ever read any Robert Jordan? He is my favorite fantasy writer, and third overall.
Vinny: Why are we stopped here? What's wrong with that spot?
Tyrone: It's too tight.
Vinny: Too tight? You could land a jumbo f*cking jet in that.

I have read Jordan. He used to be my favorite fantasy writer, but now I like Martin and Tad Williams better. Jordans series is great though, but imo he does not compare to Martin.

Really, Martin is that much better? I've seen his books but never read them. I've got to pick up his books then. Which one would you reccomen to start? I've read alot of fantasy and nothing has compared to jordan. I think i like him the most because of his attention to details. You really get a good image in your head as to whats going on. Although he can be long winded thats one of the things i like the most, that he will spend time giving you backround on the characters, races, etc... extremly real in a sense.

I would read the first book in the series," A Song of Ice and FIre". I think it is A Game of Thrones. I have read the entire series twice and I have never before, or since, been able to read a single book more than once.

I read the first 4 books of Robert Jordan's series...my brother has read the whole series (of what he has written so far)..well... my brother and I both agree that a song of ice and fire series is hand down the best.

I'ts a real treat. I envy you reading it for the first time :) Let us know how it goes!

Today was a break even day. I lost a little over $80 today in 50nl, then lost about $80 more on MTT's. Luckily, I decided to have a few beers after I had quit playing for the day. Well, the beer decided it was a good idead to play in a 50+5 sng, and, with the beers help, I got first in that sng. So I ended up a little over even on the day. Good stuff. I need to quit drinking. A bad idea, thanks to drinking, helped me out.

I am also having another problem. I think I am becoming to aggresive. Over the last week I have been playing, I have become more and more aggresive day by day. Today in 992 hands my aggression was 6.69. I have been taking down tons of small pots, but I have been losing bigger pots than I ever have. Here is an example of the kind of things I have been doing.

In my defense I thought he had AQ and I could bluff him out of this pot, but in hindsight I should have checked the river. I only had six hands on him also, so no read.

Party Poker (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with [Kc], [Qs].
7 folds.

Flop: [4h], [Qc], [9d] (3 players)
Button folds.

Turn: [9s] (2 players)
.

River: [7d] (2 players)
Hero calls 58.75 (All-In), CO calls 47.25 (All-In).

Final Pot:

Results in white below:
Hero has Kc Qs (two pair, queens and nines).
CO has 4s 4c (full house, fours full of nines).
Outcome: CO wins . Hero wins .

I hope tomarrow will be a better day. As long as I keep my focus and stop making stupid bluffs it will be much better. My bankroll is still growing though.

Hours played this weekl: 4.6

Hours left to play: 35.4
