I've played horribly in freezeouts on Stars, so I'm playing more of these $22 180nkaments. No read on Villian yet. It's obviously very early. Thoughts on the plays, street by street?

Your flop bet is really marginal against 3 players imo. The rest is good.

I thought your disaggreement was more in terms of the size of the bet than the actual bet, but I actually think the bet is a must. He has to bet to get rid of overcards or make them pay there when it's checked to him. He may also get someone with a hand with a 6 in it or a smaller pocket pair to call because they think you are just trying to steal the pot. Or what about gutshot straight draws there who get to stay around for cheap. Once the orginal PFRer checks and you are in position with a good hand you need to take a stab at that pot. I would worry about what happens on the turn and river after I see those cards and my opponents' actions.

If he checks the flop, why wouldn't opponents just bet the turn like you say they will on the river if he checks? They could be doing that with complete garbage. At least if they called his flop bet than you can be pretty sure that they have some type of hand as the only possible draw out there is a small straight draw on the flop that is not even that likely because the pot was raised preflop.

This hand is too good IMO right there not to bet. Checking 88 there is just like giving up the pot. If I had 5's or less I would check there. A pair of 6's or stronger postflop and I'm likely betting when checked to.
