This hand that happened tonight is in the same category (middle pair blind defense). For some reason, I didn't have a hesitation on what to do here - whereas I did at least have to pause (for myself) in the others.

Here - I'm in the BB with tens and it folds to the button (about the same size stack as me - I have him covered by T45), who raises to 3xBB. The SB (short stack - about half of my stack) flat calls and the action is on me.

I made a push for ~1200 (a total of 12xBB). The button calls (with sixes) and the SB folds.

With regards to the previous hands - I think the biggest difference here is the position in the tournament. In this particular hand, I'm still in the early stages and have much less than the average stack (though still plenty to work with). While I don't want to get knocked out at this juncture - clearly folding here is being weak. Calling here, out of position, is just a bad idea (because I have no idea where I am).

Reraising for less than a push is out just because I don't have a big enough stack to wiggle it - and even if he does come over the top - I doubt I'd fold. Pushing gives the semblance of some possibility at fold equity (900 more into a 700 pot) - so it seems to me the best idea.

Again - forgive me if this is all standard - but it doesn't hurt to get a sense of grounding on occasion.
