Someone please tell me this was a good bluff

Playing in the $20+2 MTT on Stars just now. We started at around 700, down to about 160. I have an above average stack and have been playing fairly aggressively. For the sake of avoiding embarassment, I'm not going to reveal my hole cards for this hand. Just know that they were trash.

I'm in the SB with blinds at 100/200 and antes of 25. It's folded to the button who makes a raise of 400. I have seen him to this almost everytime it is folded to him in CO or button and he already had a showdown with a shortstack and he had J3s. I had been waiting to put some pressure on him since I did not want my blind being stolen everytime. I made it 1800 to go. He had a stack of aroun 5k after the raise. I had about 6k after my re-raise. To my surprise, the BB, who had been playing pretty tight-weak, calls after asking for Time and taking it all the way down. At this point I was almost sure he had AK; the reason why I was quick to put him on AK is because almost everytime where I see a re-raise being smooth called in this type of situation is with AK. I felt that had he QQ he would have moved in, and with JJ or below he would have folded. Regardless, the flop came K-J-6 rainbow. I decided to bet out 2k to see if he would raise me, which I felt he would do if he had AK. He just called. The turn brought a 5, putting out the heart draw. I went all-in for 4k, which is exactly the same amount he had. Although I had been playing aggressively, I had been showing down strong hands and making disciplined laydowns in key situations. I knew my opponent knew this since we had played several pots together. Thus, I honestly felt that he could not call me if he had a set, given that I was clearly representing AA the whole way.

The result of this hand, to me, is less important than my play itself. Does anyone think I picked the right time to pull off a bluff? I had not shown this much strength in any hand during my 20minutes at the table and felt that I could make a move here as we were nearing the money.

Interesting hand here. I like your re-raise of the button's original raise, you saw him constantly attacking the blinds whenever he had a chance, so you decided to play back at him this time, sounds fine to me.

Now, unexpectedly the weak-tight BB calls you. Now this is pretty bad timing for you but Sh!t happens we just have to deal with it. You said you put him on AK because you figure he'd re-raise all in with QQ or JJ. This read is a rational one but I wouldn't rule out QQ or JJ at all since you said the BB was weak-tight. A weak tight player usually doesn't like to move all in before the flop. Anyway, once the flop hits I think its fine to throw 2k out on a bluff. You said the BB was weak tight, so he would probably fold any marginal holding of his to this 2k bluff.

Unfortunately for you again, the BB calls. Now I think this is where you have to shut down. The pot is around 8-9k and you only have 4k left to bluff. The BB probably won't fold for 4k more with such a big pot after committing so many chips. If he was going to fold he probably would have folded on the flop to your 2k bet. I would think he's too committed to the pot to try and bluff again. Just my thoughts... Welcome to debate

I normally dont like to get involved in big bluffs with nothing but I can see you reasoning here.
I will say one thing for sure though. Theres no way hes folding a set there whether or not you are representing having AA

Oops. I meant that I didn't think he could call WITHOUT a set. He obviously doesn't have 66 or 55 so the only hand that I could see him calling with was JJ since he would most likely re-raise KK all-in.

Thank you for the re-raises. I've been thinking about this hand a little bit and agree with you Eaglesfan. I think I should have shut it down on the turn.
