I start out with 2 tables and then rather quickly make it 4. Since it's hard to find 4 LO8 tables when I play I usually play 2 $25 PLO tables or some Texas or SnG's as well.

I feel it would probably be possible to play closer to 8 LO8 tables if I could only fit them on my sceen and find that many active tables.

Hello Stoneburg and Flexus

Since we live next door to each other, I'm guessing we're playing at roughly the same time of day (CET evenings), or are you gung-ho I'm-gonna-beat-you-with-a-really-big-stick online pros?

I'm looking for a game to add to my 7CS, and I've been thinking about all things hold'em - from NLHE to LHE FR and SH - but there's just too much stuff to read. LO8 is a possibility but FR is just torture unless you 64-table. I've been thinking about LO8 SH. That sounds like a fun game. It's also great to clear Stars bonuses. Yes ... I'm a happy whore

I'm thinking Paradise & Pacific for full ring, and Stars and Party for shorthanded. Right? Also, Paradise seems to offer SH (5max), but does it ever get off the ground below $3/$6 and have you played it? Have you played Stars' $1/$2 SH, and if so how is it?

Hmmm ... can't think of more questions for now. Go Sweden! (Yes, i realise you're out of the world cup, but I'm a hockey man myself and so I'm contemplating moving to Sweden and changing citizenship. Getting outrageously drunk and hitting people over the head with a Tre Kronor flag just isn't the same when you're a Dane. Plus, the not so beloved dean at the university where I'm a ph.d. has officially warned me not to do it to my students anymore :?)

Hello emmasdad

Yeah, I know they are supposed to be soft and, well, there, but in the european evening only Paradise and Party have several FR games available - and sometimes Pacific. I really liked your journal by the way.

Cheers,

Hallo Smurf, nice with more scandinavians on the forum :)

So far I only play LO8 at Party. I can't find a game going on Tribeca. Honestly the games on Party aren't all that good, at least not when I am playing, which is either around lunch CET or in the evenings. I'm sure they're a lot better after midnight, at least I know the holdem games are.

The games aren't tough, it's just that it's hard to find more then two full tables at that time, and usually the vpip is around 30-40, closer to 30. which isn't exactly super soft.

I'd recommend LO8 for the fun factor, it's my favorite game for pure entertainment value but there are drawbacks. Mainly two:

1. Frustration. When you're betting your nut high on the flop, turn and river only to find out that your opponent was chasing his backdoor low for the third time and hit it again you tend to get miffed. Especially since unless the blinds cover the rake you're actually in danger of losing money by only winning half the pot. People will chase all kinds of crap and "steal" your money more oftan than not. In limit it's hard to make it too unprofitable for them to do so and in a hi/lo split game there's just so many ways they can suck out on you to split the pot. A good scoop hand doesn't come along that often.

2. Economy. I play only from 0.5/1 to 2/4, at higher stakes this is less of a problem, but on the low stakes the rake is massive. The rake is twice my winnings so far.

Of course I am a relative noob so far so hopefully my win rate and EV will go up but so far I'd have to say it's much more fun than finianically good. Fortunately I am not desperate for the money so I can afford to have some fun and learn a new game.

I was actually consiodering learning 7CS next so I may hit you up for some advice on that...

Hello Stoneburg

Yeah, if hold'em isn't your game, it's suddenly slim pickings. I also feel that CET evenings / EST early afternoon is a bad time. I think I finally figured out what I want to play (Stud/8 and to prop it up: 7CS, LO/8 & Razz), but if games selection becomes worse, I guess I have to learn to play NLHE

Cheers,

Smurf
