Prudent or Cowardly? (PLO8)

Postby TomG » Sat Jul 15, 2006 9:22 am

Party Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Ring game
Blinds: $1/$2
9 players

Stack sizes:
Hero: $195
MP1: $198 (VPIP 31, PFR 0, AF-Tot 2.0)
Button: $196 (VPIP 22, PFR 10, AF-Tot 3.2)

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is UTG+1 with [Ac] [3c] [5h] [Th]
UTG folds, Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, CO (poster) checks, Button raises to $4, SB calls, BB calls, Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP3 calls, CO calls.

Flop: [7h] [Ts] [3h] ($28, 7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero...

Not a bad flop at all, but I'm next to act after the blinds and 6 other people saw a flop. My goal is to get the pot heads-up on the flop where I'm almost surely a favorite. I considered just leading out for the pot, but I was afraid it was likely I might get a couple of callers leaving me lost on the turn. So I checked, hoping to check-raise whoever would dare bet and get it heads-up.

...Hero checks, MP1 bets $26.6, 2 folds, Button calls, 2 folds, Hero folds.

Hmmm well someone bet but then the button smooth called. After his pre-flop raise and flop smooth call, I'm giving the button credit for a better low draw than me. MP1 could have a wider range of hands, but it's likely strong for him to lead out for the pot. I got scared that I was going to wind up carved between better high and low hands, so I folded and hate myself for it.

BIG WORDS
It's good to know about four or five biggish words you can stuff into a conversation so you sound well read. Don't fuck them up the way black people do, but don't overuse them either. We recommend putting your fancy word next to a swear. Here are some examples: "…so she walks in all precocious like we give a shit," or "…and it's the same old pedantic bullshit he's always going on about," or "She's got this big fucking turgid zit right in the centre of her face."
