Firing in the blind on the river

Postby MecosKing » Tue Mar 28, 2006 10:40 pm

Villain in this hand is pretty laggy, hes like 70% VP, and is more aggressive on the turn than on any other street it seems like, but i only have like 30 or so hands with him. From what i can tell, he's pretty mizorly though.

This is something i dont do too often, but i have started doing against unpredictable players in spots like this. I thought, maybe he has a heart draw on the turn, but he could just have something as bad as [Ad] [4d] and be going for the free showdown. I am not ashamed to say i had really no idea what he had in this spot, because he was unpredictable. Of course when he folded on the river, that pretty much narrowed his range of hands to like, 3rd or 4th, MAYBE 2nd pair... But i like this hand just because its not always easy to apply the 'if theres absolutely no other way to win the pot except by betting, you might as well bet' concept, but i did it and its nice when stuff like that works.

I like this alot more online than in a live setting. With your read on his aggression on the turn being higher, I think betting into him on the river and giving him a decision to call there really enforces that you have a solid hand there. Plus, it might make him slow down against you in the future since his high aggression turn plays didn't work on you.
