Full ring, or, 6 max?

Postby Rude Dog » Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:02 am

I have been playing nothing but 6 max, and doing well. Not going to retire, but, I win when I pay attention. I tend to nut peddle, but, I'm not ashamed.

I also like to play live, and they are all full ring except when the table starts to break.

From time to time I think I should be playing full ring for the practice, but, just can't bring myself to do it. It's sooooo slow, and, the pots are the same or smaller.

I think I can use the same skills and aggression live in a full ring as I use at the 6 max games online if I kick my starting hand requirements up a notch, or two, or, not, depending on the table.

Am I way off base here? Should I play the full rings online to keep my live game sharp, or, stay with what I can win?

Sometimes I convince myself that 6 max is making me sharper because of the blazing pace.

Either or is fine IMO. In 6-max, paying attention to your opponents becomes really important, so you can figure out if second or third pair is good in certain situations. If you are going to play live, just don't bring that game you play on the internet to that live game. Live play is so much different than online play IMO. I think it's easier, but you get much less information to pay attention too in the same amount of time. I only think playing live will help you play live and playing FR online won't prepare you for live FR play.

It would be nice if the had shorthanded tables for limit at the casinos around here though.
