Could You Lay This Down?

Postby Tiburon » Tue Apr 04, 2006 4:35 am

I guess this is a primary symptom of running well, playing well, or whatever you call my game at the current time:

PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with [Ac], [Ah].
2 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, Hero raises, 2 folds, Button calls, SB calls, 1 fold, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (11 SB) [Qc], [4s], [Qs] (5 players)
SB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, Button raises, SB calls, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (8.50 BB) [8s] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero folds, Button calls.

River: (10.50 BB) [Kd] (2 players)
SB bets, Button folds.

Final Pot: 11.50 BB

Discuss away...

EDIT: To include reads... I didn't have anything on these players at the time, but after 20 hands each...
SB was 18/5/3.00, Button was 41/9/1.50

In a ten handed game, it seems when the SB comes alive like that, he doesn't want anyone to get a free flush drawon the turn so he most likely had the queen and you were beat. The action screams it IMO. Or he had the flush which is less likely, but still possible.

Good fold. Next!

5 people seeing the flop? Yeah, this is an automatic dump here, especially with those numbers on the SB. I would stick around with a redraw to the nut flush, though.

if SBs stats were over more hands, i might be willing to look him up. betting scare cards is nothing new, and it seems to work until everyone else knows that you bet scare cards without the goods as a matter of course.
