The Phantom of the Opera Movie

Postby kennyg » Wed Feb 23, 2005 4:04 am

If you guys haven't since this movie..I recommend you go to it before it goes out of the theaters. Give it a chance! Evertyime I've gone in there...I ask the other people in the theater how many times they've seen it. The answer is usually 4 or 5!!! One guy came out of the theater while i was waiting on a friend.... and asked me if i liked it. I said, "yeah thought it was great, seen it a couple of times"..and he said, "that was great. surprisingly great. I'm shocked. I don't even like musicals."

I think I've seen it 4 times now. It still amazes me everytime I see it. Granted my view is a bit skewed as I've had the soundtrack to the original broadway show since the late 90's. I've always loved teh music but never had seen the show.

I was shocked at how well everything was done. The visuals are beatiful. I've seen it on a digital theater and in a regualr theater; the color of the digital makes a huge difference!! If phantom doesn't win some kind of set design award at the emmys i will be surprised.

The lead chick is played by emmy rossum.. and she really does sing like an angel. And she looks damn good too lol. When she starts singing her first song, prepare to be truly impressed.

I wasn't as impressed intially by the phantom guy...but he improves tremnoudosly as the show goes on.

I will say...towards the end when the phantom seduces christine on stage...is some of the most powerful cinema I've ever witnessed. It just drips of seduction and erotiscm...
and they don't even kiss! amazing directing and acting.

Maybe i'm just more of a romantic guy then i thought...but damn i can't get enough of this movie.

If this helps...my top movies:
1.Braveheart
2. Phantom of the Opera
3. The matrix (god why the hell they butchered reloaded and revoultions)
4. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

so any of you seen it already? did i convince anyone to go see it? :)

Hang on kenny, I thought you were heterosexual  musicals  ?

Now the true nature of the strip bar you sometimes talk about becomes apparent :D

Nah, in all seriousness I havent seen it and prolly won't. Who plays the phantom character? I know when Freddie Mercury was alive he was initially planned to be the lead in a phantom movie about 15 years ago, I think he would've been phenomenal.

While writing this I was expecting gay jokes aplently lol.

Damn't i like naked women!!!

hehe

Some guy i've never heard of plays the phantom. I think he does a great job acting the part...though the guy that played in the original broadway show has a much better singing voice.

heh..the rolling stone agrees with me http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/mov ... mainRegion

That's it! Moulin Rouge. (Senior moment. It'll happen to you, too.)

What a cool movie. I avoided it forever, until someone insisted I HAD to see it. Glad he did. If you haven't, you are missing a fun time.

Yeah I enjoyed Moulin Rouge. Pleasantly surprised by it, actually.

Still don't think it holds a candle to Phantom...but I suppose if you didn't like the broadway show you won't like the movie CJ.
