wrap and flush draw - was I too aggressive?

Postby briachek » Fri Feb 25, 2005 8:30 pm

Party Poker Pot-Limit Omaha High, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

UTG+2 ($24)
MP1 ($20.15)
MP2 ($38.12)
MP3 ($26.3)
CO ($20.75)
Button ($84.1)
Hero ($42.9)
BB ($14.5)
UTG ($26.98)
UTG+1 ($32.05)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [Th], [2c], [Jc], [Qh].
UTG raises to $1, 2 folds, MP1 calls $1, 2 folds, CO calls $1, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.75, 1 fold.

Flop: ($4.50) [9d], [Ac], [8c] (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, MP1 checks, CO bets $3, Hero raises to $13.3, UTG folds, MP1 raises to $19.15 (All-In), CO raises to $19.75 (All-In), Hero calls $6.45.

Turn: ($63.15) [4d] (3 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($63.15) [5s] (3 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $63.15

Results in white below:
Hero has Th 2c Jc Qh (high card, ace).
It doesn't show the other guys cards. CO had AJTx with no flush draw, open ended straight draw and pair of aces.
MP1 had KTTx with KT of clubs so he had a higher flush draw than me and a pair of tens

Pair of aces wins this pot. WTF?!?!!?!

Outcome: CO wins $63.15.

I checkraised the flop to force out any other flush draws but that one jackass didn't want to let it go so I was almost drawing for a 7 or Q for a split or J or T for win (no clubs obviously). What do you think of my play? Bet out the flop? Just call a bet?

I don't mind raising this flop here. You are hoping to remove Q high flush draws, you have a big wrap, and you are hoping that (at this point) you have some fold equity. Hey this is party - stacks are so short one little raise puts you all in on the flop. I am not folding this hand and it's clear that you're behind at this point so I guess you may as well make a big raise. On the other hand, I'm really not entirely sure how you are meant to play poker with these joke stacks. I think I would play it exactly as you did, but I agree that *perhaps* with these loose players (perhaps no fold equity?) maybe calling would be better.
