At the time I had a 10:1 chip lead so this hand wasn't all that important I was just trying to understand the function of this system as I doubt he was employing this strategy but in borderline situations vs a maniac heads up it seems as if it could be quite helpful.

With blinds that high in relation to short stack, always push/fold. And yeah, SAGE is a simplified Nash Equlibrium and gives up close to zero edge against the true Nash equlibrium.
