Flopping a set against a flush draw...

Postby legendary loser » Sat Feb 26, 2005 1:53 pm

I need advice what to do on type of hands like this.

First hand at a Party Poker $50 table. It's very loose it seems like.

There are 5 limpers and I am dealt [As] [Ac]. I raise to $4.50 and get 4 callers. The pot is about $22-$23.

The flop is [Ah] [Js] [6h]

I lead out for $20. One person in MP calls. I have $25.50 left.
The turn is a [3h]
What do you do now?

With no background info on the player; I do not believe he was on the flush draw. Most players who draw, will not pay $20 in a $25 pot to draw. I check the turn and if he goes all-in or puts you all-in, I call. Chances are that you have him beat.

I am still all in on the turn. Your only other choice is to fold, there is almost no way that all the chips dont get in the middle in this situation, so you might as well be the one pushing. If he did catch his flush on the turn you still have 10 outs to fill up. Reason number two to push all in here is you dont want it to check around and have another heart hit and you are totally screwed.

I went all in and the opponent won with [8h] [5h]

Not a good way to start a session.

On a loose table at party after 5 limpers you must raise to at least $8 and you will still probably get two callers.
