3/6 limit live, AQo, how bad is this?

Postby Danhdan » Wed Apr 12, 2006 5:17 am

Opponent has shown one bluff on a really small pot, and gotten caught on another one.

I have [Ac] [Qd] in the cutoff. Two limpers to me, and I raise. Button fold, blinds call, limpers call.

Flop is [Kd] [8d] [2d].

3 checks, second limper bets, I raise, three folds, limper calls my raise.

Turn is [4c] . Limper checks, I check.

River is [Jh] . Limper bets, I call.

Whatcha think about that?

Villian had Q9 w/ no diamond and I took it down. I'm trying to add this type of play to my game, but it's hard without a good read on the guy, so I'm sure people are getting away with things on me sometimes. Still, I was pretty confident against this guy because of his showed bluffs. It's funny, but I think I played it the best way because if I had bet the turn, he would of folded without that chance to get an extra bet from him on the river.

The last 4 people I has seen show a bluff at 3/6 all went broke within an hour of showing that bluff...I like the fact that the reason these bluffs are shown are not to induce someone into calling you with the best hand, just to show them.

Making a bad call with a good hand at the river is a small mistake, folding the best hand at the river is a disaster.

If we're planning on calling on a blank river, why not bet the turn and check behind on the river in order to protect our hand better.

Normally i agree with Xas about this, but in this particular spot i like the check behind/river call better because if the guy decides to checkraise here, you have to call it, with a hand that could be beaten in alot of different ways, and in a spot where its really hard to tell wher e your at. If your hand was something like [As] [Qs] i would like the bet the turn line alot more--
