How do you play the nuts ???

Postby Rhound50 » Sun Feb 27, 2005 5:48 pm

This hand happend last night 1/3 NL 100-300 buy in.

Player A loose/ passive calling station. $400
Player B Solid agressive player $ 75
Player C Solid agressive player $190

Player B UTG raises to $10, player C calls from the button, player A calls from the BB
flop is [Ac] [Tc] [2c], player B bets out $30, player C calls, player A goes all-in. Both players end up calling player B shows AA, player C [Jc] [8c], player A has the nuts [Kc] [9c], the board doesnt pair turn or river the nut flush holds up. My friend was unfortuntly player C, but that is not my question. What does everyone think of reraising all in with the nut flush. I think its a really bad play, my buddy disagres??

i don't move all in, very bad move IMO....If you have the nuts, then the other two people don't, you are playing on their suspicions however remote (they both called anyways). Why unnecessarily tip them off? Jack high flush (your pal) should have backed down.....The nut flush was an idiot to indicate he had a monster. You buddy couldn't take his eyes off his own cards to see it....

I dont know about that gregor against an bad player with the 3rd nut flush, I am probably all in too. This kid was really bad, he raises with just about anything. I would have push in too in this situation.

I don't think it's a really bad play. I have thought about and I think the all in is good play (the all in is actually a only potsized raise - he doesnt overbet the pot). It would look like a semibluff and alot of hands that he beats will call (set, lower flush, perhaps Ax[Qc])
In this hand there are 13 cards player A don't want to see on turn (6 clubs will kill his action and 7 cards will pair the board). The pot is big and player B doesn't fold for another $35. No reason not to get the money in when he knows he has the best hand. Especially if he is a player who raises with anything and his raises don't get much respect.

Rhound,
I don't think I would push with the nuts here, but then again I don't play loose passive calling station poker (no mater what I tell you at the table). If I push everyone folds. I think I make a probe type bet here and try to get someone to raise me. Then I push.

I like calling a loose PASSIVE player who sudenly steps out of his shell and pushes even less than his push. When a passive player shows aggression you can count on them having one hell of a strong hand. Hell they will mostly just call wtih the nuts. I call an agressive player with the J high fush but I run like hell from a passive player who wants to bet his stack.

Mike
PS do you know who I am? Clue I generally see you at Oceans 11 in the 2/3 NL game.
