guess the hands and win $5

Postby Kalle » Fri Mar 18, 2005 11:28 am

It’s been a while (11 days) since kenny’s last “guess the hands” post. I thought I would post one.

One guess, $5 to first right guess, transferred through pokerstars. You have until Monday.

$2/4 on UB

Folded to MP2 who raises to $14. MP3 ($217) calls, I ($326) call in LP. Button, SB and BB call as well. MP3 is an average player.

Flop $84
[8s][As][8h]

Raiser bets $4. MP3 calls, I call, others fold.

Flop $96
[8s][As][8h][2s]

Raiser bets $4, MP3 raises to $27, I mini-raise to $50, MP2 folds, MP3 goes all in for another $172. I call. River is a blank.

What did me and MP3 have?

I'm gonna guess...KsQs for MP3, and 88 for you. That'd be cool.

KsQs for MP3 and AA for you. (In which case, shame on you for not reraising preflop and getting a much smaller pay day... hmmm...)

AA for MP3. 88 for you. I'm gonna assume here that MP3 is halfway decent and wouldn't push his flush allin after you re-raise the turn. I'll also assume you wouldn't re-raise the turn with just a flush.

Hmmm... K3nt thoughts are great (why do you only play 10/20c?) but no one has come up with the right answer yet.
I wrote MP is average. He is probably below average. And I think you all give too much credit to the average 2/4 UB player (UB has the best players online but they are in general loose and too aggressive imo).

My hand was fairly obvious. I had 88. Just a question of how decent you thought my opponent was. He had AK with the [Ks]. Congratulations to Norton who had the right answer.
Norton, is your screen name at PS the same as here?

Wow, that turn play is downright heinous......nice hand.....flopping the quads is sweet...im curious why you mini-raised him? I guess his 27 bet was tiny compared to the pot, but I think I smooth call there hoping he thinks he has the best hand....no reason to tip him off that you have the ubermonster, and are preparing to take his stack and his dignity....it worked out for you, but should have been an easy fold for him at that point....

Seems like Norton wins 80% of these guess-the-hand thingies. I'm jealous.
