Interesting NL Live hand

Postby briachek » Thu Mar 31, 2005 12:32 pm

I saw this hand live in AC one time and thought I would share. I've only played in this game once but bets rarely seems to take into account the size of the pot on any street.

The only reads I have is on LP who is a bit loose and likes to try and pull off some small bluffs with nothing. No reads on anyone else.

BB and LP have about $300 and UTG+1 has them covered by about $100.

1/2 blinds, $300 max buy in.

Action is limped 8 handed, including both blinds for $2.

Pot about $15

Flop is [Ah][8h][7h]

Checked to UTG+1 who bets $20. There is one caller and folds to LP (mentioned above) who raises it to $40. All fold to BB who calls as does the other two players.

Turn - Pot is about $175

[2c]

Checks to LP who bets $40, called by BB and raised to $80 by UTG+1, all fold but BB who calls.

River - Pot is about $375

[5h]

BB bets out $50. UTG+1 raises him another $80. BB goes all in for about $70 more on top and UTG+1 calls.

What do you think their hands are and what do you think of the plays?

my guess, BB [9h] [6h] and UTG+1 has [As] [Kh]

maybe UTG+1 bets hard to see if a flush is out, figuring he has the nutflush draw if he gets a caller. the loose late position bluffer raises, but not much, and noone believes him anyway. BB flopped a weak flush for free, figures UTG+1 doesn't have a flush, and of course doesn't believe the LP raiser, but he still doesn't want to go all the way with this little flush so he calls.

turn, UTG+1 missed his heart draw so he checks, he calls the small raise though, as does the BB.

river, UTG+1 gets his flush and isn't worried about the straight flush, the BB hits his miracle card and happily has a caller in the [Kh].

UTG+1 check raised on the turn. after the LP had raised his flop bet.

dam i missed that. now i remember why i never guess at these. taking the checkraise into account i can't think of any holding for UTG+1 that makes sense, can't wait to hear.

I was waiting for a couple more responses but no one else seems to want to guess.

The UTG +1 player had [Kh][Qh] and flopped the nuts while the BB had [9h][6h] for the flopped open ended straight flush draw with the 9 high flush. I just found this was interested because the BB probably thought he was slow playing and trapping the whole way when he was dead to 2 cards. The betting throughout the hand is terrible.
