Feedback on an AA hand

Postby poker2006 » Mon Apr 04, 2005 11:06 pm

I'm kind of new to this forum and I found some great information so I'm learning a lot looking at other posts.

I would like to get some feedback on an AA hand I played today. What would be your thought process, would you play it differently from the start.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (7 handed)

BB ($8.5)
UTG ($8.9)
MP1 ($18.85)
MP2 ($25)
CO ($29.64)
Button ($80.55)
Hero ($39.65)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [Ah], [Ad]. Hero posts a blind of $0.1.
UTG calls $0.25, 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.25, 1 fold, Button raises to $1, Hero (poster) calls $0.90, 1 fold, UTG calls $0.75, MP2 calls $0.75.

Flop: ($4.25) [Kd], [Jh], [7d] (4 players)
Hero bets $3, UTG calls $7.90 (All-In), MP2 raises to $12.8, Button folds, Hero raises to $30, MP2 calls $11.20 (All-In).

Turn: ($66.15) [2d] (3 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($66.15) [7s] (3 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $66.15

I have been playing for 30-40 hands and using GT+ to see what other people were doing. About the players in the hand, button is loose (plays 40% of hands), UTG very loose (55% of hands) and aggressive/bluffer, MP2 tight (19% of hands).

I was of course trying to trap with AA. After the flop I get 3/4 of the pot. UTG went all in and given the way he played earlier I assumed he's bluffing or has something weak. MP2 raising I assumed he had AK or KQ and was trying to protect his top pair and get others out of the hand.
Let me know what your feedback is. I usually raise with AA, but I just read a post here saying that limping with AA was more profitable for people on this forum so I had that still in mind. Thanks in advance for your help.

When the button raises 2 limpers, you want to reraise preflop. You dont want everyone calling and making the pot multiway like you did.

You flop bet is fine, but once it gets raised and reraised its normally time to fold. This is low limt stakes so anything can hapen, but I would be very surprised if you won this hand.

A healthy reraise preflop will solve the problems with this hand.

I'm fond of limp reraising all in preflop. If he calls with KJ or whatever then so be it.

It's hard to limp reraise out of the SB.

What I would do is reraise to $3-4 and make it clear you have a hand. You don't want to play this hand out of position 4 handed. If the button calls then I bet out the pot on the flop and hope he's playing AK. There's no way to play this hand right after the flop with 2 people that play any two in the hand. They could have anything here. I like to define my hand preflop when in such a bad position and there are multiple limpers and then a raise.
