Mental Exercise

Postby Mad Genius » Sat Apr 09, 2005 2:26 pm

Answer these questions OUT LOUD as you see them. DO NOT VOTE UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE EXERCISE. You will begin to see what number people are picking.

What is...

1+1

2+2

4+4

8+8

16+16

32+32

Now pick a number between 5 and 12

Iceman, give it some time, you'll notice almost everyone picking the same answer. It's kind of neat, I'll explain after everyone has had a chance to do it.

It might be that there are 6 questions so people just pick 7 because its the next one in order.

No, no, you're all wrong. It's because each number is a power of 2 and the next number in the sequence (128) is 2^7.

Of course, that doesn't explain why I picked 9.
