Postby Stelvask » Tue Apr 12, 2005 11:40 pm

UTG +1 is bad . SB, i'm not so sure about .

Anyone fold this river getting these kind of odds?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (8 handed)

SB ($441.60)
Stelvask ($570)
UTG ($196.90)
UTG+1 ($291.40)
MP1 ($267.30)
MP2 ($356)
CO ($81)
Button ($213.60)

Preflop: Stelvask is BB with [9s], [Th].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $4, MP1 calls $4, 1 fold, CO calls $4, 1 fold, SB completes, Stelvask checks.

Flop: ($20) [Kd], [Js], [Qh] (5 players)
SB checks, Stelvask bets $20, UTG+1 calls $20, MP1 calls $20, CO folds, SB calls $20.

Turn: ($100) [Qs] (4 players)
SB checks, Stelvask bets $75, UTG+1 calls $75, MP1 folds, SB calls $75.

River: ($325) [Ac] (3 players)
SB checks, Stelvask checks, UTG+1 bets $192.4 (All-In), SB calls $192.40, Stelvask calls $192.40.

Final Pot: $902.20

Results in white below:
SB has Td Qd (straight, ace high).
Stelvask has 9s Th (straight, ace high).
UTG+1 has Ad Ah (full house, aces full of queens).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins $902.20.

I know this sucks - but with the overcall on the river, I fold this one. At best, you got a 3 way split here. One of the two will have a boat often enough to make this call unprofitable.

i gotta admit, looking over this hand, my call was even worse than i thought it was.

Still, i put UTG +1 on 10x the whole way, the SB's call in the middle confused me like nothing else, as i couldn't figure out for the life of me what he held. A10 occured to me as a strong possibilty at that point.

I also felt that since he was closing the action on the turn, the SB would have raised with a made boat at that point, and if he held AQ i think he might have pushed in the rest of his stack to get the full value from it, though i was unsure about it at the time.

the more i look at the hand, the more i hate my river call. at the time i just couldn't let it go though

I also hate this river call, the chance that ur hand is best is very slim. At best ur looking at a 3 way split and ur not too committed to fold and deal with the ~100$ u lost even if the other 2 wind up splitting, fold and move on.
Raise.
