2/4 nl. who agrees with the river play?

Postby Stelvask » Thu Apr 14, 2005 10:29 pm

2/4 nl on stars. my opponent seems solid from this and past session.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (9 handed)

MP1 ($269)
MP2 ($458.20)
MP3 ($876.25)
Hero ($684.05)
Button ($283)
SB ($592.20)
BB ($401.05)
UTG ($456.05)
UTG+1 ($212.40)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [6c], [6s].
5 folds, Hero calls $4, Button raises to $12, 1 fold, BB calls $8, Hero calls $8.

Flop: ($38) [Js], [Qc], [6d] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, Button checks.

Turn: ($38) [4d] (3 players)
BB bets $16, Hero raises to $40, Button folds, BB calls $24.

River: ($118) [Td] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $50, BB raises to $344, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $512

Results in white below:
BB doesn't show.
Outcome: BB wins $512.

My turn raise sucked here. it should ahve been far far more.

I considered checking behind him on the river. My read on the turn was that he held either AK or two diamonds., however i felt checking was too weak, as there were too many hands that could still call a bet.

ANyone else think i should have checked this? anyone think i should have called?

I just wrote a whole long post and erased it because I wasn't following it right. waste of time lol.

Anyway, I sincerely doubt you have the BB beat here. It looks like he had a monster draw on the turn...then trickly checked it to you when it hit. He moved all-in to look weaker then a standard raise. Good fold.

He might even had held something like QQ or JJ but i'm still learning towards [Ad][Jd], [Ad][Kd] or [Ad][Qd].

As for your bet on the river...I think I like it. Lots of hands would call you there.

You right, your turn raise shouldve been higher. I also would not have bet the river.

QQ, JJ, TT, AK and any flush all beat you. The only thing you can beat is AA and KK and he wouldnt have checked the flop with those hands.

I agree with the river fold, but couldn't disagree more with the flop check.
