Ice this is why I hate party poker

Postby Rhound50 » Wed Apr 20, 2005 12:38 am

Ice you asked why I hated party poker, so much, well this is it in a nutshell. Than the guy goes on about something like it was his rotation he had to go all in. It doesnt matter how well I play when my big pocket pairs lose to this BS every time. My Pt data base is full of these. This why my win % with AA and KK is under 50%.

at least they were sooooooted... :D

Right before I withdrew my money for the last time (a couple days ago), I had a similar hand... Limp in EP w/ AA... get 3 limpers... I forgot the guys name, so lets just call him "the worst Goddamn poker player in creation" for the sake of this post... Anyways, he raises, I reraise, he calls...

Flop Jxx rainbow... I bet out, "TWGPPIC" instantly goes all-in, like he already had it checked before I bet... I'm positive he's got AJ or something and call... he flips over J6, and I'm already counting this idiots chips in my pile as he pulls his runner runner flush... I usually try to hold my tongue, but I couldn't handle it, and simply typed "Congratulations, that was the worst play in the history of poker"... he has the balls to write back "I had top pair, stop whining..." I don't remember much of the rest of the night, as I blacked out after putting my head through my monitor...

I really think we should petition management to start a "Horrible beats by Party" category, and me and you can take turns being the moderator...

I dont know what the hell is wrong with me, maybe I'm just to damn stuborn to admit that good play doesnt equal winning on party poker. I keep thinking that, I am better than them I should win in the long run, this is true everywhere in the poker universe except on party.

I like what palman said. It makes sense to me. I hate to say it, Rhound, but you do sound just a teensy bit superstitious.

If you want to overcome your superstition (assuming that's what it is, and the PartyPoker gods do not actually have it in for you!), this is what I suggest:

Drop down to the $25 game and destroy it for a while.

Any bad beats down there will be only half as painful, and you'll have more time to let things get right for you without ripping your hair out. Dropping a couple more buy-ins won't faze you as much. Once you're up 3 or 4 buy-ins overall at the $25 tables, maybe your superstition will start fading.

Just a thought. It may not be worth it in terms of your overall poker goals, of course.

Palman, I know you are right and at no point did I say I thought party was rigged or they are out to get me. They have no reason to care what happens to me at $50 table. Yes I am superstious, I have played baseball most of my life, I think it comes with the territtory. If my team is winning I wear the same exact unirom parts, same socks, undershirt, hat etc.

Obviously this frustrates me, I dont like losing I am a very competative person and on party I am a losing player. I keep saying to myself I can beat the games there and there is no reason I shoudldn't be destroying these games. The mental part is what kills me, I start to expect this stuff to happen, it has happened to me so many times on party in the past that a couple of these suckout, I start to wonder if I cant win with a 4:5:1 advantage preflop what the hell can I win with. I have been all in with AA and KK preflop 16 times in 7300 hands, twice m KK vs AA lost, thats part of the game, but the other 14 times obviously I was way ahead, I have won 6 out of 14, when at the worst I was a 3:1 favorite.
