Nice post and nice stats. I am wondering how double 6 equals 14 though.

Playing tight will get the money, believe me. There are some good LAG players, but most people cant play that way effectlvely. You would think that at higher stakes that you need to get very tricky. Playing a little tricky will help at times and you can add a few plays to your game as time goes by, but even in the bigger games, playing solid tight aggressive will win the money. Every time I win a monster pot with a set, i think.....jesus....I dont push all in with out a monster and I still get called over and over again.

Thanks Ice, I appreciate it. I orignally wrote 7 as the BB/100 but found out the real number was 6, hence the mathematical mistake. It is of course 12BB/100.

I'm gonna try to keep my VP$IP below 20% for awhile and hopefully when I get to 10K hands I can get the confimation I need that I am indeed a winning player.

If you don't fold the best hand every once in awhile, you're probably not playing your best poker

Regarding going from tag to lag and back to tag...

I read an article somewhere that basically describes going from tag to lag as a stage in a poker players development.

Something I found helpful to experiment with lag play was to go to a .05/ .10 limit ring game. I raised and three bet any hand I was playing, including suited connectors heads up or three way. My goal was to play super agressive and walk away a money winner. It was enlightneing to three bet 45s preflop and then knock someone off a board of say 8 10 J by raising the flop and betting the turn. If it was obvious I was way behind once the flop hit (I would use agression attempting to win pots here even when I completely missed) and I couldn't win the pot here from agression I would shut down. This is unless I had backdoor draws and improved on the turn. In this case I would continue to push agressively.

Doing it at a limit table was helpful as I don't think I could play lag at some mini stakes no limit table without stacking off, rather than using some restraint in raising a blind of .02 to .10 I don't have the patience for this at baby stakes. But at a limit table the limits in betting perform this restraint function for you.

Next time you want to experiment with different styles of play I'd recommend trying something like this. If you could play patiently at baby no limit stakes I guess that would be ideal.
