Ace Ten Named Johnny Moss. Why?

Postby Johnny Hughes » Wed Dec 08, 2004 10:21 am

Does anyone know or know how to find out why A,10 is named Johnny Moss?

I was helping put together a small piece for a Lone Star State publication and no one seems to know the answer. I wrote Jan Fisher, Lou Kreiger, and Nolan Dalla and none of them know. Nolan wrote Crandall Addington who was second to Moss in the World Championship in 1974. Have not heard back. On the front page of livepokerforum is an article called Leaving Down Town Las Vegas where I pay tribute to Mr. Moss.

Here are hands that "look like something"

J,J fish hooks, 10,10 twenty miles of track, 8,8 frog eyes, 4,4, sail boats, 3,3, crabs,2,2, ducks.

My livepokerforum.com hat should be ready today, making me the first kid on my block to own one.

No idea about the Moss hand.

Jesse May usually refers to 88 as 'snowmen'.

Yeah, I used that one. I heard from Crandell Addington, runner up in 1974 to Johnny Moss. He did not know either but said it wasn't from the WSOP.

I know it's juvenile but 69 being called the happy meal I find amusing.

I suppose Moss played a famous hand with AT. Kind of like Doyle's T2, or Helmuth's black 9s.
