Bet this river??

Postby kennyg » Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:38 pm

I decided to bet this river. I felt my opponent had AQ. Though I probably would have folded to a river raise (depending on exactly how much he had left.) We both started around $200. What do you guys think about it? Results later.

BODOG 1/2 NL

I'm dealt [Ah][Kc] in UTG. I limp UTG. Couple of other limp. BB raises to $5. Everybody calls.

FLOP $20
[Jh][2d][Ac]

BB bets $10. I raise to $25. Everyone folds back to him. He calls the extra $15.

TURN $70
[Jh][2d][Ac][8d]

BB bets $2 (lol). I raise to $41. BB calls.

RIVER $152
[Jh][2d][Ac][8d][Jd]

BB checks. (I thought AA or a jack or a flush would def. put a bet in here.) I bet $62. Results later.

So what do you think..bet or check here?

Palman, why would you say the jack was a great card? It kinda screwed him if he was on AJ, or a flush draw...

Flush draw came backdoor so he didn't have it in all likelihood. AJ was already ahead. Only KJ/QJ/JT got there but I imagine they would have dropped a long time ago.

Anyway, why didn't you re-raise preflop? Limpers behind you and then BB raises barely more than minimum. You should have re-raised there to isolate BB. Anyway, I also like a bigger flop raise. Other than that I'd agree on betting the river.

MG...that's my normal play with AK UTG like that. However..i wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been. thanks for the comment though. When I looked over the hand history I had the same exact thought.

How much would you bet throughout this hand the way it was played??
