Raised AQo hand, Party 400NL

Postby Smokin'Al » Sat Apr 23, 2005 4:17 pm

I haven't posted a hand for ages, and AQo seems to be quite topical, so...

Interested in comments on all streets (possibly except for pre-flop!)

Party $400NL full ring.

I have [As][Qd] in MP and open limp. I have $510. I've only been involved in a couple of (medium sized) pots, so far, so it's likely nobody has much of a read on me.

Folded to the c-o who raises to $15. I've noticed him raise quite a few times, so suspect he's doing so slightly loosely. Also he's down to $305 without reloading, so I don't think he's very good. No specific reads though. I decide to take a flop.

Flop [3c][5d][8h], 2 players and $36 in the pot. I lead for $25 and he calls.

Turn ([3c][5d][8h])[Ac], 2 players and $86 in the pot. I check, he bets $40, and I raise to $120. He calls and now has $160 left.

River ([3c][5d][8h][Ac])[Th], 2 players and $326 in the pot. I check with the intention of calling any bet.

Thoughts? Good / Over fancy / Downright terrible?

preflop: looks fine

flop: I usually check fold but nothing wrong in betting out. it justifies your preflop call.

turn: I bet out here. and then if im raised I make a decision. He can't put you on an ace. When you checked, his bet looked weak and I like your raise.

river: bet. hands that beat you will bet - AT, AA, AK, T8 etc- while hands you have beat will check, but might call because the pot is big. And he has no idea what you have.
I check the river to induce a bluff, when there was a draw that didn't got there. Only 76, 64 and perhaps a flush draw. I think he has a made hand. And the pot is big in relation to a possible bet: it would be stupid of him to bluff.

(sorry, forgot to post results on this in my post BTP-ring-game depression :) )

The river is checked down. He shows A9o and MHIG!
